Certificate II in Automotive Mechanical

Course summary

This course provides students with a transition from school to employment in the automotive industry it also provides a comprehensive introduction to the Automotive industry. Areas of study include engine operations, maintenance & service, fuel systems, electrics & batteries and hand & power tools. This course can also be used a stepping-stone to an apprenticeship in auto/auto electrical or heavy commercial vehicle field.

Certificate II in Horticulture

Course summary

This qualification focuses on the general skills needed by horticultural workers. This program will cover tasks such as: recognising different plants; propagating, planting and caring for plants; operating horticultural machinery and equipment; treating weeds, pests and diseases; maintaining irrigation and drainage systems; helping with landscape construction; and generally working effectively in the industry.
This qualification is designed for persons seeking horticultural work in a limited supervised environment. Tasks could cover some or all of the various sectors of landscape, nursery, bush regeneration, parks, gardens and turf.

Can be offered as traineeships.

Career possibilities

In Agriculture, Horticulture and Environment:

Employment may be sought as a General Horticulture Assistant in Nursery, Turf, Gardening, Revegetation and Landscape Industries.

Entry requirements

There are no special entry requirements. Completion of Year 10 is desirable.

Mature Age - where education, work and life experiences are indicative of likely success in the qualification.

Certificate III in Horticulture

Course summary

This qualification focuses on the general skills needed to work as a horticulturist. Tasks covered includes: providing information on plants; controlling weeds, pests and diseases; fertilising, pruning and maintaining plants; operating specialised machinery; installing and operating irrigation systems; carrying out landscape construction work; propagating plants; maintaining landscaped, natural and revegetated area.
On successful completion of Certificate III, students will gain a qualification that will enable them to work in the area of general horticulture.

Employment may be sought in areas such as landscape construction, garden establishment and maintenance, turf establishment and maintenance, plant propagation and nursery plant care.

Certificate IV in Aged Care Work

Course summary

Workers in these occupational groups work in residential facilities within defined organisational guidelines and service plans. These workers carry out activities related to the maintenance of an individual's wellbeing through personal care and/or other activities of living. These workers may provide services to individuals with complex needs, and/or work with groups of older people.

Diploma of Business (Frontline Management)

Course summary

The course is designed either to recognise or prepare people for competencies required by a person employed as a frontline manager. It includes leadership, managing work teams and performance management, information systems, quality customer service, change management and creating a learning environment in the workplace.
The Diploma of Business (Frontline Management) is for students who are interested in being employed as a frontline manager. The diploma includes units relating to leadership, managing work teams, performance management, information systems, quality customer service, change management and creating a learning environment in the workplace.

Completion of Year 12 or equivalent or specialist Certificate IV competencies is recommended, as well as access to a workplace.

There are no entry requirements for any qualifications listed in the Business Services Training Package. However, to assist in the successful completion of this course it is advisable that students have successfully completed a Certificate IV in Business (Frontline Management) before commencing the diploma competencies.

Diploma of Children's Services

The Bremer Institute of TAFE, Ipswich, Queensland

Course summary

This qualification covers workers who are responsible for developing and evaluating the program. Workers at this level have responsibility for the supervision of other staff and volunteers and in most States it is the highest qualification required at director or service manager level. Workers at this level are required to have an understanding of Indigenous culture and history and to work with local communities.
This qualification provides an educational program focusing on the knowledge, attitudes and skills required by a person working with children and their families. Students undertake voluntary practical work in Child Care Centres.

This course develops skills and knowledge across a broad base of diverse yet interrelated areas such as design, pre-press, web development, multimedia, photography, production, interpretation of briefs, marketing and project management.

Graphic Designer, Art Director, Creative Director, Package Designer, Web Designer, Multimedia Content Designer, Digital Media Specialist or Illustrator.

Entry requirements

Entrants must satisfy at least one of the following requirements: Completion of Qld Yr 12 or equivalent; or Completion of Yr 10 or equivalent plus related studies and/or work experience equal to 2 years; or where experience and/or qualifications are indicative of success. To successfully complete this course, entrants should possess language, literacy and numeracy levels equivalent to Level 3 of the NRS.

Diploma of Information Technology (Project Management)

Course summary

This qualification will give people skills and knowledge in managing end-to-end project management processes and activities in an information technology context.
This project management qualification is structured in such a way as to include a significant proportion of project management competencies from other training packages, while maintaining a level of ICT technical competence within the other core units. At the electives level, there is a choice of technical units to suit the individual or enterprise including database, server and website design, architecture and e business. A number of project management units referenced in this qualification may contribute to industry certifications through the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM).

Career possibilities

Project managers have the responsibility for scheduling, controlling and directing the resources, people, funding and facilities to achieve the customer's business objectives for a particular information technology project. These projects may cover a full spectrum of the ICT industry including software and hardware development, web development or system development. Project management are also responsible for assembling the team as well as the transitioning of the team to projects at the end.
