Course overview
The intended purpose of this course is to provide participants with appropriate training, knowledge and workplace skills to enable participants to work as justice professionals in an administrative, managerial and/or law enforcement capacity in public or private organisations within the justice industry.
This course will provide students with higher level research skills, the ability to undertake complex investigations, gather and preserve evidence, understand law, report and interpret Acts, Rules and Regulations and manage conflict and would be sufficient for employment in the following job role(s):
- Queensland Police Service
- Justice-related occupatios
- Corrective services in custodial and support roles
- Department of Justice and Attorney General including courts
- Legal offices
- Customs service
- Security industry in support/administration areas
- Private investigations in support/administration areas
- Parks and wildlife
- Department of Transport
- Youth justice roles
- Crime and Misconduct Commission in support/administration areas
- Community legal centres
- Other State and Federal Government Departments in compliance and workplace health and safety roles
Program Duration: 12 months
Entry Requirements: To ensure students satisfy the entry requirements of the Diploma of Justice Studies students will undertake 39292QLD Certificate IV in Justice Studies for the first semester of the program. Students will be issued dual Certificate IV and Diploma of Justice Studies at the duration of the program.
QPS entry: Individuals must satisfy minimum application requirements to be eligible to apply for QPS. One of these requirements is education / employment experience. To assist you with your educational choices we have designed a program to meet the required study hours at the correct AQF level. It is recommended that you contact QPS recruiting for specific information regarding your situation.
Information Evening: For further information an Information evening will be conducted at the Springfield campus, Tuesday 27 October 2011, 5-7pm.
