Dream job a major event
Diploma of Events student Sacha Reveruzzi has proven that initiative and ambition unlock potential after securing a coveted events role at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) only half-way through her TAFE studies.
Following an introduction and glowing reference from her teachers at The Bremer Institute of TAFE, the talented 18 year-old was offered the position of USQ Events Assistant and has already proven her abilities in the role.
Ms Reveruzzi said she relished the responsibility of running a varied program of activities at one of Queensland's largest tertiary institutions, and had her events teachers to thank.
"The Diploma of Events teachers have been extremely supportive and I'm so grateful to them for opening the door to this opportunity at USQ. It's given me such a great start to my career," Ms Reveruzzi said.
"I love it so far - I like the responsibility, independence and being able to stand back and see an event I've organised run successfully.
"So far I've managed several USQ events independently, such as sports days and paint skirmish, which shows they trust me to perform and that feels really good.
"I feel so fortunate - if you had said at the start of the year that I'd be at USQ in this role, I would have doubted you."
Ms Reveruzzi said the skills she had already developed through the Diploma were serving her well in her new position.
"The Bremer TAFE has really helped build my organisational skills and given me a better understanding of what it takes to run events successfully," she said.
Graduates from The Bremer TAFE's Diploma in Events leave with a broad range of event management skills, including communication, planning and organisation, and a detailed knowledge of the event management process.
The pure events programs cover staging, venue selection, time management and production and our events management programs include customer service skills, managing groups, legal issues and budgeting.
Students run their own live events, often for community or charitable organisations, as well as work in a range of roles in major events on campus and in the community. This real-world application and experience gives students the confidence to know they are ready to begin their careers.
